# Use a Chest in the browser

> Join from an invite link, view files, and upload one file

Open the invite link in a browser. You do not install anything for this path. The page shows the Chest name and who invited you.

## How do I join from a link? <a href="#join-from-a-link" id="join-from-a-link" />

1. Open the link you were sent.
2. The page shows the Chest name and says that person **invited you**.
3. Enter a name under **What should we call you?**
4. Tap **Join**.

There is no email and no password on this step. If the name is empty, the page says **Name is required**.

If the invite cannot be used, the page says **This invite is no longer usable. Ask for a new one.** Ask the owner for a new link.

## What can I do on the Chest page? <a href="#chest-page" id="chest-page" />

The page lists the files. Each one has **View original**, which opens that file.

**Upload** sends one file. The page says **This page uploads one file up to 5 GB.**

If the Chest has nothing in it yet, the page says **Nothing here yet** and **Photos added to this Chest will show up here.**

## What if I am waiting for the owner? <a href="#waiting-for-the-owner" id="waiting-for-the-owner" />

When the owner has to approve you, the page says **Waiting for the owner to let you in.** It also says **You can close this page. It keeps waiting when you come back.**

The page checks again on its own. **Upload** stays hidden until you are let in.

## What if the event has ended? <a href="#event-has-ended" id="event-has-ended" />

**This event has ended. You can still view what is here.** **Upload** is hidden. You can still use **View original**.

**This event is closed** means the viewing period is over. The detail says **The viewing period has ended.** The files are not listed.

## What if an upload does not finish? <a href="#upload-does-not-finish" id="upload-does-not-finish" />

While a file is going up, the page shows **Uploading** and a percent. Tap **Cancel** to stop it.

If the connection drops, the page says **Waiting for the connection** and retries. Choose the same file when it says **Choose the same file to continue the upload.** Choosing a different file offers **Upload this file instead**.

If the upload fails, the page says **Upload did not finish**. The detail depends on why:

* **This Chest is full**
* **You cannot upload to this Chest**
* **This page uploads one file up to 5 GB.**
* **That file type is not allowed**
